Shadow highlight control slider vs wheel difference?

Hey guys. I know and feel how the shadow and highlight control (the slider below with contrast, midtone etc) and the shadow highlight wheel (in primary) behave.

They both seem to work identical but do feel different when using.

I can't really place my finger on what is different. And the manual defines the 1st one as a more contrast refining thing.

Anyway to define them and their differences?

Asking so I can make a more informed decision when using either of them. So I know what I want to do before I even touch the controls.

Which of the either of them do you guys use in what scenarios?

I searched that for a while.
Since I wasn't finding the response, I just putted a grayscale inside Resolve and try the different controls.
If you look simultaneously your scopes, you will see that with the wheels, there is only the lighter part affected. With the slider, all the image is affected.

With the Highlight wheel and slider, you will get a curve. With the gain wheel, this is straight.

That was a good take. I guess just the grayscale is what explains all the tools so perfectly

The shadow slider also adds sharpening if you increase it, not sure why.
