Fairlight Busses

PostFri Jan 15, 2021 10:27 pm

I am enjoying the flexibility of the new buss system, however I have two problems:

First, I prefer to have my main audio bus LAST not first (typical for most DAW and mixers), sub-mixes first, and sends between the two. The issue with the current Fairlight configuration is that if I have set up sub busses, auxes and mains and decide I need to add more, I need to re-assign all the channels:

I set up
Bus 1- Soprano
Bus 2 - Alto
Bus 3 - Tenor
Bus 4 - Bass
Bus 5 - Band
Bus 6 - Reverb
Bus 7 - Main

Then I decide that I actually need both Soprano 1 and Soprano 2... that can be a lot of re-assigning. It would be nice to be ale to re-order the busses dynamically

On a related problem (more immediately annoying), when I have set up my busses as above, Resolve doesn't seem to get that my last buss is my main output. More importantly, every time I re-open the timeline (no matter if I re-start Resolve, load a new project, or just switch timeline), I have to re-patch my main output to my audio output. I also have to be careful when I "deliver" to check which bus I'm using. Isn't there a way to a.) retain patches in a timeline and b.) indicate which bus is your master?

Right?!

The flow is left to right.

Channel->Submix->Main Mix
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Fairlight Configuration Presets are a much more flexible method of recalling layouts in new Projects and Timelines.

Fairlight menu > Presets Library

On a related problem (more immediately annoying), when I have set up my busses as above, Resolve doesn't seem to get that my last buss is my main output.
Save a custom Preset in the Deliver page's Render Settings panel via the Additional Options (3 dots) menu.

Patching is saved at the Project level. Alternatively, patching may be stored in a Fairlight Configuration Preset which may be recalled within an existing Project or may be used as a Preset when creating new Timelines.
