Timeline Viewer Freeze + "The GPU failed" error message

PostSun Jan 17, 2021 8:05 pm

Hello Guys,
I just wanted to let you guys know that I was really frustrated with the following problems and I have found a solution:
* sometimes the right timeline viewer would freeze
* sometimes I would get the error message "The GPU failed to perform image processing due to an error"
* sometimes davinci resolve would hang up altogether

The problems occured especially when working with jpg-images (transition, dynamic zoom) and fusion compositions.

I tried switching from CUDA to OpenCL GPU processing which helped a little. I tried switching from v16 to v17 which did not help at all.

But what solved the problem immediately was changing my nvidia drivers from the normal "game ready drivers" (461) to the "studio drivers" (460).

Just in case you are having the similar problems try that!

yours

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
