rendering failure

PostMon Jan 18, 2021 9:13 am

Hi,

I am fairly new to Davinci Resolve. I started using it a couple of weeks ago due unreliable rendering issues in Lightworks.

I have had good success with Davinci Resolve but now have a new challenge. I am creating a video with 20 musicians who have all submitted a video of them playing which I am trying to collate. They have used a variety of cameras and phones and the files are a mix of MP4 and MOV files.

Once I get beyond 10 files I start to have issues with the playback and rendering either fails immediately or the render time rises exponentially.

My computer spec is

Intel i7-9700 3Ghz
16G Ram
Nvidia graphics card

Firstly is this normal due to the increased workload on the CPU / GPU ?

Secondly is there a way round this with rendering some of the clips to their final spots then adding others later ?

Many thanks for your help

UPDATE -

I tried to create proxy files but three of my clips failed - I removed them and things seemed to be going better (without proxies for now)

Then I tried to resize my clips so they could be seen - by the time I resized four of them I could no longer play the video in Davinci it would stutter and hang.

Any thoughts ?

Am I doing something fundamentally wrong ?

Thanks in advance
