Mu PC Shuts down when ever I work with TEXT

PostMon Jan 18, 2021 4:37 pm

Hi,
Im working on 20 second lyrics video with 2 Text tracks and one background video with no effects, my pc shuts down when ever I try to edit text.
its not only this timeline, but also other small or bigger timelines, sometimes it works fine.
The CPU and GPU fans go crazy and than boom my pc shutsdown.
Anyone have any idea what it could be?

My first guess is a system issue that's being trigerd by Resolve, but not caused by it.

So you'll need to look at your system for a solution. Bad hardware or driver would be where I start looking.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I have reinstalled everything, same problem, this happens only in Davinci resolve, also in v16.
This is strange.

TYKHAN I also have text errors when working with a simple workflow in resolve. Sometimes during render it spikes the export time up to 20-30 mins for a 8-12 minute video. I don't have an under powered PC either.

I did find that going in to the playback menu > timeline proxy mode > change to half or quarter resolution works for me. At least it's able to export with minimal or no errors...

I also sometimes have a 1 frame colour shift red green or blue after the export has finished that doesn't even show up in the timeline. Sometimes it does. This was a few versions ago though. I plan to eventually post up about that issue happening because it's REALLLLLLY frustrating especially on a deadline.

Not sure if it helps but maybe it will.

Cheers.

Abdul

The symptoms suggest a thermal or power problem that happens when the system is under load.

Utilities like CPU & GPUstress-testing software, hardware monitoring applications (like CPU-Z) and troubleshooting & best practices guides from manufacturers (like this from Intel) would be good starting points.
