Retail Studio 17 serial code early release?

Hello! I've purchased the Studio 17/Speed editor combo that of course has been on backorder since last November. Is there any talk from BM of possibly allowing B&H and other retailers to at least release the serial number so that we can download the Studio 17 Beta and use it until the entire backorder can ship?

Without a valid serial number there does not seem to be a way to install the Studio 17 beta version. Is that correct or am I missing something? Might a 90 day temp password possibly be released to accommodate the Covid delay of parts for the speed editor as I'm sure things will be released by spring.

Thanks!

JB

I wouldn't expect BMD to actually 'recommend' retailers open a customer's package.

Thanks for the thoughts Jim. I was more interested in say shipping partial since the speed editors were on backorder so that at least the license would come through, even though 17 hasn't reached a prod state yet. Since it is electronic, I suspect it would come via email and the keyboard via however it's shipped.

Frankly, as a new customer, I have serious concerns about this as well. BMD seems to be a solid company, which is providing pro quality product in a market I am able to participate in. However, this odd silence over the Studio license/Speed editor leaves me feeling uncomfortable. It is as if there is some bad news in the background nobody wants to tell.

I appreciate BMD's announcement that they have a component supply problem in building enough speed editors to meet the demand. Ok, I understand that. What I don't understand is why they haven't delivered license keys to the customers who ordered the studio/editor bundle and left the keyboard back ordered. In reading these threads, it seems as if this has happened for some customers, so why not myself, with my B&H back order? My credit card charge is pending shipment. Why doesn't BMD and B&H want to take my money? I am very anxious to try the full Studio feature set and would still be very patient in waiting for the Speed editor.

BMD, I hope you are reading this and I want to have faith in your company. You are addressing an important market, which I want to be a part of. I hope you have a helpful reply to this question. Why can't we be charged and immediately receive a license key, and then continue waiting for the Speed Editor?

It's actually not. The license is either a dongle or a code, which comes on a credit-sized card.

In both cases, you need to have something shipped to you. And even the Activation Cards are out of stock all over.

I will stay with Adobe Premiere and not have to deal with the Dongle or Activation Card.

The trade off, Mike, is that you have to pay them every month/year.

Once in a while I see your posts on the Adobe Premiere User Forums. Do you still use Premiere?

It's been a few years. I stopped posting over there once they switched to the new forum software, which is just...horrible.
