Re: Visual noise being introduced to clips when imported

Hello all!

I'm fairly new to video editing and I've been attempting to learn how to use Davinci Resolve for producing some content as a hobby.

I am having a somewhat odd problem that I haven't been able to find much literature on and I thought I'd see if anyone here has experienced anything similar or has any suggestions.

So the problem is thus, I've recorded some MP4 footage on my camera (A Canon XA50) at UHD resolution in 25p in front of a greenscreen. The recording has gone fine and I then create a new project in Davinci Resolve (I am using the Studio version of Davinci Resolve 17). After which I use the 3d Keyer to remove the green background and insert my own. This process goes perfectly fine up until this point.

When I attempt to export the footage as a completed clip however, I am running into problems. After commencing the render, for the first 10 seconds of the clip, everything seems fine and then after it reaches the 10 second mark, the remainder of the footage has had some serious visual noise/grain introduced for the remainder of the clip. This noise is present in the final render, but only after the 10 second mark, the first 10 seconds are fine.

I should point out that this 'noise' I am referring to is not present in the original recording prior to being imported into Davinci Resolve and only seems to apply to the 'background' I have inserted whilst not appearing to affect the 'foreground' footage at all.

Interestingly, once this 'noise' has appeared during a render, it also shows up in the timeline footage for the project when I scrub back and forth, yet the noise was not present in the timeline footage *before* attempting to render the project.

I'm a little confused as to where this noise has come from. It's really quite noticeable and has a significantly detrimental impact on the exported footage. I don't know if its an issue with the greenscreen removal process that I used, or if its somehow related to the export codecs (I've tried rendering the footage as MPEG, Quicktime and even a couple of others I dont know much about) or something else entirely.

I've uploaded a brief clip of moving back and forth through the clip in the edit tab to demonstrate where the 'noise' appears in the animated background.

I have also an external link to the clip here: https://streamable.com/hoapll since I'm not sure if uploading it here on the forum worked.

I'd really appreciate any insight anyone could provide as to what might be causing the issue and any suggestions on how to fix it would likewise be helpful!

Thanks very much.

I don't see any noise in the uploaded video.

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
