Tried it on a PC as well as Ubuntu and same result. Only shows a black frame on the display. At first I thought it was a faulty thunderbolt connection. Perhaps the ultrastudio mini monitor stopped working.

Nope. Reinstalled 16 and it was just fine.

Please fix this. I love version 17.

I am using the ultrastudio Mini Monitor without problems in 17b6. Do you have updated video drivers? I would try that first. If you post your system specs it will often help the dev figure out the problem easier.

System specs are:
Lenovo P17 Gen 1 Laptop
-Intel Xeon W-10885M Processor (2.40ghz, 8 core, 16 threads)
-128gb DDR4 (4x32gb)
-Nvidia Quadro RTX 5000 16gb


That's interesting that you're not having issues with it. Just out of curiousity are you using it on a Mac? That's the only system I haven't tried it on. Attempted this on Windows 10 and Ubuntu. Result was the same. It only displayed a black frame. Updated drivers, checked bios settings, double checked hardware, etc. Everything seemed fine. In fact, the device populates and shows up when i open up the desktop video app. Even double checked my desktop video settings were setup properly as well as the resolve project settings. Nada. However, when i rolled back to 16 on my PC it worked just fine.

Leads me to believe it's a 17 bug.

I have Resolve Studio 17 beta setup on my imac w/ Big Sur. I ordered Blackmagic UltraStudio Monitor 3G so I could use a separate monitor for color grading.
I had to get Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter AND a Thunderbolt cable because I have an older iMac.
I downloaded Desktop Video 12.0 and it appeared to install correctly. However when I go to launch Desktop Video setup it says “No Desktop Video device Detected”.
I’ve even went back one version and I get the same message.

It's working for me on a Mac with 11.6.

I am also running the Decklink Mini Monitor on PC and Linux with 11.7

Sadly I don't have much other insight for you as my PCs don't have thunderbolt on them to test the Ultrastudio on them.

Yea, i'm guessing this is only a PC/Linux issue.

I had the same thunderbolt setup to get my mini monitor plugged in. Only difference is my desktop video detects it but won't display anything in Resolve 17.

I really want to see some footage from a Sony A7iii with a lens I borrowed, but just upgraded to 17.1.1 tonight... Didn't think it would kill my Reference monitor...

Please look into this guys.

If this is the older Mini Monitor it can be difficult. Check the Post Production subforum.
