CacheClip and Resolve Project Backups

Hi, after just a few hours of video editing in DaVinci Resolve my Mac HD ran out of storage space! to be able to get my Mac running again, out of desperation I had to transfer 64GB of data contained within the above two folders from my desktop and place them in an external drive. Is it okay to keep these folders there on the external drive? And if so how do I tell Resolve where to find them? Thank you

I recommend working only from Internal drives.

As a starting point, I think a five drive setup is most efficient.

Gallery/Cache/Optimized Media (and in 17) Proxies

You can change the default locations for cached clips and project backups in preferences going forward, but I wouldn't expect that to reconnect existing caches and backups to their timeline and project sources. You could still salvage the backups one way or another, but existing caches would probably be lost.

Of course, you don't need 5 [internal] drives. But external drives have been known to lose their connections to Resolve projects. What your experience will be can't be answered here.

I see in the project-settings > Working folders you can browse to CacheClip?
