Nested Timeline looses Audio effects and adjustments

I have a timeline called "webcams" with 8 video/audio tracks simulating a Video Conference call. I'm then nesting that timeline into the main timeline to add in overlays, an intro/outro and some special effects.
Because the various videos in the webcams timeline came from 8 different sources, I had to work with the audio quite a bit, noise filters, volume changes, dynamics, etc. None of these seem to be reflected in the main timeline though. I was able to export the webcam timeline and then import that video, but that means every change I need to make needs to be exported/imported again.
I'm just trying to not have to deal with 30 tracks all in one place, ya know?

I couldn't duplicate this in Studio 17b7 for Windows. Both track and clip effects came through as expected in the nest.

Good to know. It might be just me. I'll keep playing with it.

It's not just you, I got that yesterday on 17b6 (I don't have this project anymore, it was for a quick render, I just moved the effect on the main timeline).
Did you have the effect on a clip? or the track?
I had an echo my clip.
I don't know for 17b7, I'll try something now.
EDIT :
Yeah, I can make it sound horrible

The sound disappear, or is very choppy
Put an echo on the clip, and modified the equalizer. I think I had this yesterday because of the effect + the equalizer activated. In the main timeline,
Have you an EQ and an effect on your audio clip by any chance?

I guess I'm still on b6, I just got notified of b7. I'll check it later today and report back.
I've got Dynamics (to improve speech) and a volume adjustment on the bus, a noise filter effect on one track, a volume adjustment on another single track and volume adjustments on several clips.

Update: Still an issue in b7
I did a little more testing too. Exported the timeline, created a new project, imported timeline, everything played as expected. Created a new blank timeline, nested imported timeline into it (drag and drop from media window to blank timeline) and no audio effects as before.
Next I'm going to remove all of my effects and add them in one at a time.

Hey Erik, I'm running into the same issue as you.
Took a second for me to realize, but none of the effects in my nested timelines work on my main timeline.
I'm running Resolve Studio 17 beta 7 on Windows 10.

I hope this one gets fixed

Yeah, I couldn't get it to work consistently, so I gave up and I've applied the effects to the track where I nested the timeline. It's not quite as good, but it's good enough for this project.

Hi
I am also seeing what I think is the same issue in 17 B23
I have several timelines that I edit then join together in a main timeline.
- All audio adjustments in fairlight work on the individual timelines
- Exporting individual timelines audio is correct
- Adding timelines to main timeline and all the audio enhancements are lost
- Adding the exported file to the main timeline and audio is correct
So I can export all the timelines individually, then bring them back into the project to join them together but then if I tweak anything I have to repeat the process.
Screenshot shows the difference between the timeline in timeline and timeline exported and added to timeline.

Hi,
Windows 10 Professional
So I have been playing around turning things on and off in my timelines to try and see what is causing it and think I have found the cause.
So when my sub timelines have Audio Ducking on and I add them to a master timeline - Am seeing this issue. If I turn off the audio ducking on timelines and drag them into Master things seem to be OK.
It is actually as if the problem is the whole track once in the master timeline gets reduced - not just ducked where there is voiceover speech like in the sub timeline.
Does that make sense?

Hi
This is definitely audio ducking that is causing the issue for me. If I do audio ducking on the nested timeline, the full compression is applied across the whole track once added to the master timeline.
Still the same in the latest beta (B8)
Not sure if this is a bug, expected outcome of the tool or I am doing the ducking wrong:

Yeah this is still happening to me in Beta 8.
I was able to simply reproduce the issue in a new project by:
- Dragging an audio file to the main timeline
- Right click audio file and wrap in compound clip
- Open the compound clip and select the Fairlight tab
- Add chorus, reverb or other noticeable effects on the track mixer channel
- Back out to main timeline and effects are not audible
I have a deadline for a project in a couple of weeks and will probably have to Decompose in Place all the audio clips for my child timelines unless I can find a proper solution to this.

Auto-ducking.. and nested timelines doesn't work well too... and I just saw in my new project that a Text+ with a shadow (nested timeline too) have artifacts around the text.
It looks like nested timelines is a mess for audio..... and "video".

Still doesn't work in the beta 9

Start a new test, Max, rather than an existing sample.
Still doesn't work?

? Yes it was a new test, I just made a quick project with two timelines, echo on a track, auto-ducking further on the timeline, put the timeline in the other one, no effects... The "ducked" audio was just compressed during its full length, but the side-chaining didn't work

The problem persists in 17.0 final (at least for me)

Still experiencing audio issues with nested timelines.
Tracks with effects like reverb are not updating.
Wound up exporting and reimporting audio as workaround.

I have the same problem using acon digital plugins. Excactly as it is written here. When do we geht a bugfix for that ? Nested timelines are not usable with a bug like this.
No Go. No Go. No Go. No Go. No Go. No Go. No Go.
No Go. No Go. No Go. No Go. No Go. No Go. No Go.

It looks like this issue has reappeared in version 19.0.0 and 19.0.1 of Resolve
I am working with nested timelines in multicam clips since I have a mix of multiple audio clips that I want to use inside a multicam timeline I had to create a nested timerline with the audio premixed. However, in the timeline where I cut the multicam timeline, all audio processing is just gone.

Wow at how long this has been happening. Still happening for me on 19.1.3 (Mac)
