I just successfully migrated to Ubuntu 18.04 from a windows system and the system comes up no problem.
Linux .... 4.15.0-132-generic #136-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jan 12 14:58:42 UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The only problem is that now any MP4 clips I drop on the timeline shows up on audio only instead of video. Playing the track produces no sound and no video

Can I get any help on what this is related to and how to fix it?

MP4 files can not be read/processed with DaVinci resolve, I used the Linux ffmpeg command in a script to convert all of the MP4 files to MOV format:
Code: Select all
#this converts MP4 files in current working directory and subdirectories to MOV format
for f in `find . -name "*.MP4" -print` ; do
m=`echo $f | sed "s/\.MP4//" `.MOV;
if [ -r "$m" ]; then
   echo $m already exists, skipped!
else
   ffmpeg -i $f -vcodec dnxhd -acodec pcm_s16le -s 1920x1080 -r 30000/1001 -b:v 36M -pix_fmt yuv422p -f mov $m
fi;
done;

I was then able to "see" the MOV video clips and use them in Resolve.
