Yet another crash-16 and 17

PostWed Jan 20, 2021 7:41 am

After working for a while, Resolve now alternates between crashing immediately after saying "Checking for control surfaces" and crashing after "Starting waveform editor" and asking to send a crash report. It's pretty frustrating.

My current config:
i9 9900k
GTX1070 8GB
16GB RAM
20GB swap file
36 GB free on drive where Resolve is installed

Things I have done to try and address the issue:
completely clean installs of Resolve 16, 17beta6, 17beta 7
rebooting
enabling IGPU multimonitoring and then disabling onboard graphics after doing so
starting Resolve first thing after bootup
moving all source video and project files to another directory
downgrading NVIDIA drivers to Studio 460, then to Studio 456.71
switching Resolve process priority to High

Suffice to say my frustration level is pretty high, especially given that it works fine on my less powerful laptop. NFO and crash files are at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

Thanks in advance for your help.

A couple ideas I have, though I'm not sure how likely it is they're causing the crash.

Let Windows manage Swap, don't set that manually.

36 GB isn't much free space on C:. Any chance of upgrading that?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
