Maybe it would be not bad, Eve good, if those two actions - past everything or just a node - would be separated with different hotkeys combinations (let's say, "past node = ctrl+v, past all = ctrl+alt+v".

But why fix what is not broken?

It didn't. You can still Copy/Paste individual nodes. You just need to set the dropdown in the top right of the Keyframe window to Color, rather than All.

It's been pointed out that this only works in clip mode, not in group pre or post modes.

And in any case, it's made a simple and often used function awkward or impossible to achieve, apparently only to provide a completely redundant feature. It makes no sense and has created a pain point where none existed.

True, I think we're referring to:

Support for simple copy/paste of whole clip grade, node and sizing with color page thumb selection.

which seems to imply that you can click on a thumbnail in the Clips track of Color and do Copy then click on another thumbnail and Paste. But what's happening is that people are clicking on a node and getting behavior at the thumbnail level. So my hope is that the thumbnail-level behavior is overriding the node-level behavior when All is checked, but not when Color is checked. (That menu is in the Keyframe area and keyframes are clip-level things I think, not node-level.)

Here's hoping.

Yeah, this is a horrible change!

I was going mad trying to figure out what was happening. The solution is so cumbersome and un-intuitive that I'd never have figured it out by myself without finding this thread. Not sure what the point is of adding yet another way to do something that takes literally one click as it is, at the cost of killing another super useful default behaviour I use many times per hour.

Please devs, put default node copy/paste back!

Correct.

(And according to Peter, changes here are still forthcoming.)

You're correct that they changed some behavior. I think they were shooting for a copy/paste way to do what you'd currently do with middle-click, etc, at the clip level. But introduced a bug where it was acting at the clip level when we're trying to operate at the node level. (Except when the keyframe settings have a particular value, in which case the appropriate behavior happens.)

Work at the "clip" level is working at the "keyframe" level, I believe.

Kudos to Blackmagic for listening regarding this change. Beta 8 has resolved this quite nicely. Copy / Paste a node works again and if you fancy it you can use copy / paste on the thumbnails for the whole grade instead of middle click. But no more drop down menu dependency to control the behaviour. That's actually even better now than I thought it would be. Best of both worlds so to speak. So, thank you for listening, BMD! :)

Again, I don't think the beta 7 behavior was intentional. They added/improved clip-level (keyframe-level) copy/paste and accidentally enabled that behavior in the context of node-level work. They don't state it as a bug fix but it really is: you could even see the inconsistency in behavior by changing Keyframe behavior (All versus Color) which makes no sense directly, but is a part of the whole clip/keyframe versus node issue.

Either way it's fixed, but I'm pushing back on the idea that they planned for it to work totally non-intuitively and user complaints caused them to change their minds. It goes with the meme that some folks are pushing in other threads that BMD has been making a series of crazy changes with no concept of how people use their software.

Thanks BMD team for an elegant resolution! Indeed, best of both worlds; node copy and paste works as we are used to, and now we have an additional copy grade function using timeline thumbnails.
