17.B 2 Second lag Selecting Fusion/Adjustment Clips

PostFri Jan 22, 2021 9:08 am

The UI performance for this build has really tanked for me.

Marque selecting multiple clips induces a 2 second wait, as the interface catches up with the user.
Scrubbing/moving the timeline play head with' Selection follows play head' is painful and it jerks to a stop as to reaches

Manipulating Overlapping Markers are also a crashing DR hard.

thanks.

Which Beta?

sorry 17.0B BUILD 23

UI is really clogging for me. Feels like it is getting any acceleration. Not sure it it usually does. But it sucks.

NVidia Studio Drivers.

Rendering is fine, but selecting and manipulating clip on timeline is just unbearably slow.

It's like being on a MAC in 1997.

Well that's just unpleasant, regardless of the year.

I can't duplicate that. Post up some system and media specs maybe?

So many issues with this build. Fusion effects random generating garbage frames. I wish I had time to chase culprit. But Fusion and/or transition effects added to timeline absolutely TANK rendering and create maddening .

Simply adding a mask to a image/clip , in fusion is enough to bring it to its knees.

This is stuff I accomplish in seconds in Premiere Pro, for all its annoyances. I gave Resolve a shot at some very light title work, with a few masked graphics and simple transitions.

I wish I hadn't.

Rolled back to previous build.

Render FPS went up to 50 FPS (from 5)
No blue junk frames

Ui still slow but bearable

What seems to be really broken (in both builds) is the ability of fusion macros to function as timeline effects.

30 images clips on the timeline, with simple masks set up as a fusion effect break after re loading, and need to be reapplied (on each load).

Not a cache issue.

Hi

Based off a quick and dirty test - Resolve Studio 17 b7 - I can't observe this on a windows machine or an iMac.

It could be hardware or drivers - in which case providing this info helps. If your Windows system is set to auto update drivers, it is a possible factor - the latest Nvidia drivers tends to cause issues.

It could be peripherals if you've added any recently - a simple test with just the mouse/keyboard can confirm that. If that is the case, please add some info on what peripheral it is.

It could be a beta specific issue that happens in a specific scenario, in which case, a link to a project export (drp), a video capture (to check UI setup, order of steps etc), and a link to diagnostic logs (from the Help menu) would be useful.

Thanks

Thanks Shrinivas

My workload makes it hard to evaluate - but what was clear was that the pervious beta didn't have rendering issues.

I'm using Nvidia 2070 with Studio Drivers 460.89

Log attached for 'working' build B17.18

Ill make a simple project and try and do the same in latest build.

If anyone's interested, I discovered the mouse lag and UI choppiness was caused by G-Sync and NVidia Card.

You can either disable it, or choose a custom profile in NVidia control panel, and select Fixed Refresh.
