just got some 1.33x anamorphic material in. its from Suriu lenses on 16:9 4K camera. the 1.3x preset leaves black vertical bars n each side of image because its off. it needs to be 1.33 to fill the frame correctly.

TL is 2048X872 = 2.35

workaround 1: set shots to square, then scale X to 133%, but then if you want to scale your 4K clip up a bit in 2K TL, things fall apart and you manually have to do the math to keep the aspect correct

workaround 2 : set clips in TL to stretch and that seems to create correct aspect ratio

Maybe I'm doing something wrong here, but what I come up with is:

Shooting UHD anamorphic comes out to be 2.31

Shooting C4K anamorphic comes out to be 2.47

Neither fits 2.35.

1.3x is wrong for 1.33x footage.

There's a few threads that go into the details.

There are 3 options here:

1 - manual, as you did, which has all sorts of resizing issues

2 - Use DVCPRO HD PAR - viewtopic.php?f=33&t=122911

3 - Custom sizing preset - viewtopic.php?f=21&t=119022&p=708898#p708898

Option 3 is the best method.

Those calculations are wrong.

16:9 - ( 3840 x 1.33 ) / 2160 = 2.36 (2.37 if using fractions)

17:9 - (4096 x 1.33) / 2160 = 2.52 (2.53 if using fractions)

Ahhh, I used 1.3 to figure, not 1.33.
