Slow Rendering on Resolve 17 Beta

PostSun Jan 24, 2021 1:07 am

So i've been working on this project that mainly consists of a fusion comp and music over it. I'm pretty new to this but i did some color grading on top of that. The fusion comp contained a few particle nodes and some fast noise mainly over a picture. The whole thing lasts for 24 minutes but it takes an absurd amount of time to render. I have the free version of resolve so i don't know if it has something to do but it takes literally a few days to render this. Please i would like to know if anyone has a solution for this since it shouldn't be happening on my computer. I have Intel i7 10th gen, Nvidia gtx 1060ti 4gb and 16 gb ram. I see that it's only taking about 24% of the CPU and i'm not sure if there is a way to fix this. I have every driver up to date and i'm using the studio version of the Nvidia controller. If you know anything about this any help would be appreciated. Thank you

My first thought is that faster exports will require a faster GPU.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I noticed a huge difference between free and studio version rendering speed. It might be due to how the Studio utilizes the GPU.

Studio does offer the option of GPU encoding for H.264/5.

Whenever H.264/265 is involved, input or output, the Studio version is much faster under Windows IF your GPU supports the codec. Under MacOS, hardware support works in the free version.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Studio 19.1.3
MacOS 13.7.4, 2017 iMac, 32 GB, Radeon Pro 580 + eGPU
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM, MacOS 14.7.2

Make sure your GPU and Memory setting in Preferences is set to CUDA, not OpenCL.
