No CUDA on Nvidia Quadro

PostSun Jan 24, 2021 1:58 pm

Hi friends! On my studio we've switched from premiere pro. Davinci it's impressive! Way way better than premiere. BUT... On our workstations Hp Z420 and Hp Z820, we've found that our "old" Nvidia Quadro (k2000 and k4000) doesn't been recognized as CUDA graphic cards in davinci. We're working on OpenCL and sometimes the timeline works a little bit choppy. The frame rates are stable with green dot on timeline, so it's probably a graphic issue. The graphic drivers are up to date and premiere pro works perfectly with CUDA support. I know that this quadro cards are very old, but since we're working on simple hd media based on qnap nas, maybe CUDA support can help us without this issue. Anybody has found this issue? Many thanks!

Blackmagic has updated the CUDA requirements for Resolve over the years. It's possible that Premiere Pro is using an older CUDA SDK than Resolve.

Your best option is to upgrade to 3000 series cards.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Really many thanks Jim! Can you advice to me what 3000 series card should works on old Hp Z820 and Hp Z400? We're looking at 3070 or 3080, but maybe also a 3060 should works well right? Many thanks!

Both your GPUs cannot use CUDA 11 which requires cards with a Compute Capability of at least 3.5 for Resolve. Those two cards only have a Compute Capability of 3.0.
Resolve Studio 19.1.3 build 7
Dell XPS 8700 i7-4790, 24GB RAM, 2 x Evo SSDs, GTX1060/6GB (572.16 Studio Driver), Win10 Home, Speed Editor, Faderport 1, Calibrated Eizo ColorEdge CS230 + BenQ & Samsung monitors for UI, Canon C100mk2, Zoom H2n.

For Resolve, any of them.

You'd have to check hardware compatibility for other concerns.
