Nvidia Driver Issue

PostSun Jan 24, 2021 4:28 pm

Hello I have just updated the driver for my Nvidia GT710 graphics card. I tried to open Davinci Resolve 17 and it won't open. Just comes up with a message saying Resolve has an issue with the driver and I need to add another driver. I don't have another driver! Tried to roll-back to the previous driver, but the option was greyed-out. What can I do other than buy a different graphics card?

I had this problem after downloading the game ready driver version 461.09. I had to delete that driver then go to the Nvidia website to download the Studio Driver instead, and that worked. :)

Not allowed to post URL's here so Google - Nvidia driver install.

That said, your card won't perform well (if at all), so a new GPU should definitely be a plan.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Your GT 710 is not suitable for running Resolve.
Resolve from version 16 uses CUDA 11 which requires Nvidia GPUs to have a minimum compute capability of 3.5. Your GT 710 only has a compute capability of 2.1 so is too old and underpowered. Apart from the GPU, does the rest of your system meet the minimum specs?
Resolve Studio 19.1.3 build 7
Dell XPS 8700 i7-4790, 24GB RAM, 2 x Evo SSDs, GTX1060/6GB (572.16 Studio Driver), Win10 Home, Speed Editor, Faderport 1, Calibrated Eizo ColorEdge CS230 + BenQ & Samsung monitors for UI, Canon C100mk2, Zoom H2n.

Thanks yes I know the GT710 isn't powerful, but it did work before with Resolve 16. This is the first time I've tried it with 17, perhaps things have changed. It's an old computer that is due to be replaced, but yes the other specs are OK.
So it's either a new computer or a new GPU ;)

Finally can anyone recommend a new GPU to upgrade and replace the GT710?

At least you can try downgrading to resolve 17 beta 6. It is an issue with nvidia drivers. You can find the older version on Blackmagic website (!Not resolve!) support - davinci resolve and fusion software and then scrool down on left until you find resolve 17 b 6

My choice would be for a 3000 series nVidia card.

But, damn! They're hard to find in stock.

Now new drivers came out and it works with mine graphics card
