Resolve 17 slow to render/export with NR

PostMon Jan 25, 2021 4:09 am

Hey everyone,

I am relatively new to DaVinci Resolve and still trying to get my head around it.

I recently purchased DR 17 to be able to use all the extra features studio offers (Noise reduction, export footage at higher resolution etc, etc).

I am grading R3D LQ footage in 6K from the Komodo and my computer build is a i9-7920X CPU @ 2.90GHz, 64Gb of RAM, with GeForce GTX 1080 GPU.

I am not sure if it's because my computer is not strong enough or it's because I am using 17 in its beta version but I am having a lot of problems and especially when I am using Noise Reduction. The exporting is extremely slow for a 10 second clip (4+ hours sometimes) and sometimes it exports "ok".

Could anyone advise me if I need to get a better GPU, or if it's DR 17 beta or any advices/tips with my settings that can help me get a smoother experience with DR while using Noise Reduction.

Much appreciated.

NR will definitely slow things down. More aggressive settings and higher resolutions even more so.
