Issues observed with Radeon 6800XT card and Resolve 16

1. It takes a while to load video thumbnails when a new project is loaded ... it can be over 1 minute till you can actually start editing, till then even the Project Monitor is blank and you can't press Play. In Resolve 17 this is so severe that you cannot actually edit anything.

2. Video footage from Sony A7III 4K 100Mbps files create an issue while editing, after few cuts into edit video frames start to get jittery and jump all over the place ( i can record this behavior if needed)

Other than that Resolve works very well with the card ... even heavy color grades with Noise Reduction on can be displayed realtime on 4K projects.

Render times are also fine.

Tested even with the 21.1.1 Driver. same issues.

1. Seesm to be usual behavior with AMD cards, same is with Polaris. It's probably how AMD drivers work

2. Try creating optimized media for the footage just for test.

Creating optimized media defeats the purpose of having a powerful PC that can edit real time the given format!

I also have a 1080Ti which have none of the issues above, with the exception of being much slower in compute .. can't even dream of the realm where a node with Noise Reduction can be even played real time.

So don't try. What can I say ;) I didn't propose it to use it, but to locate the source of the problem.

Try disabling performance mode...

I just color graded Sony XAVC 500 mbps 4:2:2 50 fps footage (think it was a Sony FS7) that was cut into a hundred ever-shorter and sped-up edits and saw no such behavior in Resolve 16 (my rig is in my sig), although I did have some frame skipping because the rig is borderline for 50 fps. Once optimized it worked really well

You proposed a possible workaround the problem .. i would love to see a fix from either Black Magic Design team or the AMD driver team :)
