Hello everyone.
I've been working on a project for about 6 months now. I've made immense progress in the last month. It is a project made mostly out of fusion compositions and overall is 10 minutes long.
I recently reverted my system's date and time back to the year 2020 so I could use some Flash media (as Flash media is no longer usable on Windows systems anymore if your date & time is in 2021). Forgetting to change my system date and time back to the year 2021, I opened DaVinci Resolve. I have no idea if this is what has caused my issue. Nonetheless, when I opened DaVinci, I was greeted to my project somehow having regressed back many months of progress to a state where it was only a minute or so long. This is many many hours of my life completely taken away. This was not a saving issue. I have opened and closed this project so many times, and the project has always been there, always saved. I even turned on auto-saving. Saving is not the issue, and if I did forget to save, I would have lost minutes of progress, not months. I have no idea what caused this, but it's not because I just forgot to save for 6 months, believe me.
I then restarted my computer, and now DaVinci won't even open to begin with. When it does open, it gets to "Looking for Control Surface", then quickly freezes and then crashes before launching the main software. It might be useful to mention that while DaVinci Resovle was launched, I opened the old version of the project and it seemed to "work" fine, although I quickly clicked off it remembering I turned on DaVinci Resolve's 17's auto-saving feature and didn't want to potentially rewrite my project with the old project state if I could somehow retrieve it. Again, I have no idea, but I posit that this might somehow be what caused it to no longer open.
I am at a loss of what to do. Even if this could be chalked up to just the beta version of DaVinci Resolve 17 being unstable so I should go to a more stable version, I seem to have somehow lost my project data, and though I have backed it up, the last back-up was a few months ago so it would still be extremely inconvenient. I didn't even know this could happen. Surely when you save it overwrites the data, so how come it went back to an earlier version? I'm afraid as because DaVinci Resolve won't open anymore because it freezes whenever it looks for control surface, I cannot verify any follow-up questions you might have. Is there anything I can do? Is there anything I should do?
My computer has an RTX 3080 NVIDIA GPU with a Ryzen R9 R3900XT CPU on a Gigabyte B550 Aourus Pro Motherboard. I am running Windows 10 Pro. I am (or, was) using the latest version of DaVinci Resolve 17. This is a relatively new computer so it shouldn't be conflicting with other software. Thank you for your time.
