Hi,

I'd like to setup a collaborative environment.

I have already setup a postgresql and connected resolve to it.

About caching, the manual, page 3567, says that "Each collaborator on a project can have individualized render cache settings on their machine".

Is it then possible to set a local folder for caching on each machine?

I have a Nvme ssd on my pc dedicated to caching and I'd like to keep using it instead of a disk on the server.

Have you found anything on this? I was just about to ask a similar question. We're a five person team trying to get this working fast and reliable and we can't seem to figure it out. We've set up a Postgresql and have everything working, we have a server we're using for media but we would like to have individual local caches. From what I can see, we can have individual caches but they all get directed to the same place set in the project settings (which is on the server now).

The project settings can't be changed individually from what I understand. When one sets it to a local ssd, everyone else gets an error message. (something on the line of: can't find folder for cache...)

Then I've read something about the media storage tab in your own settings (up in the left corner) but I have no idea how to utilize or tell the program to have that as the cache folder. It kinda defaults to the project setting set and that seems to be universal for everybody in the project.

If someone knows how to set this up. Please explain, I would love that

I had searched this forum before posting but I found other posts with the same request but no answers.

For some reason this question does not get replies.
I wonder if it is because the solution is really simple (and I (we actually) am not seeing it), or because there is no a solution.

I think I found a solution and it was super easy
We got individual caching working on multiple machines here just by writing "cacheclip" in the cache clips location tab under "working folders" in the project settings. When this was written in, it uses the media location place in the "media storage" tab in the individual settings tab up in the left. It also copies files locally for you to playback if you make "optimized media" and check that box. That was a bonus for us:)

So far it has worked with no problems. 4 machines caching on their own drive of choosing and no weird missing files stuff.

So to summarize for clarification to everyone seeing this.

First:
Create a project on a PostgreSQL, make everybody connect to that.

Then:
create a project and enable collaboration

Then:
click on the settings button down on the right and go to "master settings". Scroll down to "working folders".
Under "cache files locations" write "cacheclip". You can also use this for optimized media, choose the quality that you want/need.

Now if you want to see and maybe change where your own files will be located.
This is where you find it:
Click on "Davinci resolve" up in the left corner and choose "preferences". Navigate to media storage and the first drive on that list will be the placement where it caches for you

sorry to jump in on this, were you guys having a shared render cache on the network and wishing to make a separate cache unique to each machine?

We have the opposite issue and to the best of my understanding are unable to share a collaborative render cache, which is something we've hoped to do for a long time.

We have exactly the same issue, have you found a solotion for a collaborative render cache? We work with 3 editors on the same projects, and sometimes stuff that was rendered in the other suite is offline and very hard to get back...
