Compound clips not updating in Master Timeline

PostTue Jan 26, 2021 7:57 pm

I am posting this for myself and for my friend Rob who has just made the transition to DR16 studio. When I work in long form for a 90 minute project, I typically use Compound Clips for the various elements within that project. IE: an edited interview is a compound clip in the master timeline as is the thirty second teaser for the next block etc.
When opening one of the compound clips and making changes like shortening a clip or whatever, we find that upon returning to the master timeline the changes are not reflected in the compound clip that is there.
What am I doing wrong ? Is there an "Update" menu or function?
Thanks
Brian

Hmmm.

Changing the contents of a Compound Clip, including the duration of clips within, should reflect those changes.

Changing the duration of a Compound Clip will only occur if you actually trim the Compound Clip. It's duration isn't dynamically adjusted based on it's contents.

Does that help?

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Just to be clear, if I alter a compound clips content that change should be reflected in the master timeline. If as a result of those alterations to the compound clip the duration of that clip changes, that should also be reflected in the master timeline.
Is this correct?
Sorry but if it is then I must be doing something wrong.

Let me try this.

If you have a five second clip and turn it into a Compound, it will also be 5 seconds long.

If you open that Compound and trim the original clip down to 2 seconds, the Compound clip will still be five seconds long, with the last three seconds showing black.

Make sense?
