Multiclips gets cropped by Timeline Settings

PostTue Jan 26, 2021 8:00 pm

Hi,

I was wondering if this is a feature or a bug:
We edit a lot of social media clips - yay. 16:9, 1:1, 9:16 ... and what not. So source material is usually 16:9, we edit this and then we resize for different outputs. sometimes there are clips that need reframe as well. we shoot a lot of multiangle clips, leading to multicam clips. now these multicam clips get cropped by the timeline size and "loose" their original format. so if i dont flatten out the multicam clip I cannot reframe without getting black bars.
I thought i could move the clips in the original timeline maybe with an adjustment clip (eg before they get cropped in the final timeline) to have a workaround. but no luck - it seams like the adjustment clip gets put on OUTSIDE the nest instead of IN the nest. Even though it is definetly IN the nest.

Only way of doing it: flatten the multiclips. and with this loosing all ability to change the edit after without circling back to a backup copy.

PLEASE: make multiclips related to SOURCE not to TIMELINE settings.

or is there something im missing?

thanks, cheers and all the best, arne

it's sometimes really a mistery. you search your head off and as soon as you post it, you find an answer.

THIS IS HOW:

in the timeline settings, leave the settings of the timeline format as is (in my case 16:9) and just adjust the OUTPUT settings in this window.
here disselect "same as timeline" and set it to whatever social media crazy format you want. boom. it's magic.

enjoy (I surely do)
