Sony Venice MXF not playing on Resolve 17.1B

PostTue Jan 26, 2021 9:08 pm

I have Resolve Studio 17.0B BUILD 23 on an old Hackintosh and Resolve Studio 17.1B BUILD 13 on a MacBook Air M1.
I just made some tests with a Sony Venice shooting 4K raw footage, producing MXF video files.
These files play perfectly well in Resolve Studio 17.0.0 (Hackintosh) but just show and "play" audio (which doesn't exist) in Resolve Studio 17.1.0 (MacBook Air M1).
I join two screenshots of the UI on the MacBook Air M1...

I wonder if the issue comes from Resolve 17.1B or from the M1.
To test, I installed Resolve 17.0B on the M1, but when it launches it doesn't recognize the dongle (which is of course perfectly recognized by Resolve 17.1B on the same M1).
Can anyone help ?

Sure you didn't inadvertently install the free version? That's what I see for all MXF footage if it's not Studio.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

DNx MXF files are not natively supported on M1. Suggested solution is to install the Apple Pro Video Formats package.

I don't know if that will help with Venice decoding, but you'll probably want that package for other MXF files at some point, so might as well install it and see if it helps.

The other possible option is to run Resolve in Rosetta compatibility mode. That also fixes the DNx issue. Probably will for the Venice files as well. You can do that by right clicking the Resolve application file and selecting Get Info. Then there should be a check box in the General area for Rosetta.

Thank for the info, Dwaine !
Installing the Apple Pro Video Formats package didn't help.
But running Resolve in Rosetta compatibility mode did :D
You made my day ;)
