timeline/export settings

PostTue Jan 26, 2021 10:59 pm

Hi,

I shot my first footage in full 6k and I'm ready to upload it to Davinci. My goal is to upload a video to youtube with a 4k and 1080p option. I'm relatively new to Davinci. Obviously the 6k files make my computer run very slow.

My main concern is getting my timeline settings right and my export settings right so I dont lose quality for the final export. Also, how should I proxy the footage before I start editing and then export in the best quality I can?

Thanks so much!

1. Upload means to transfer from a local computer to a remote computer over a network, such as the Internet.

You copy footage from the media card to your hard drive.

You import that footage into Resolve.

You upload the finished video to YouTube.

2. As a new user, your first course of action should be to complete some Resolve training. The Beginner's Guide and Advanced Editing are an excellent groundwork to get you moving smoothly. ;)

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
