Correlation between edit page and color page selected clips

PostWed Jan 27, 2021 3:36 pm

Hello there!

I might have just missed a behavior in Resolve but I still can't find how to do this...

If I have a clip that last for the whole timeline lenght (ie: a logo or watermark), even if I select a single clip from my edit in the timeline (edit page), when I go to the color page to adjust the selected clip, it will have the clip that last for the whole timeline selected (and also the first clip in the color page).

Do you know of an easy way to better navigate between edit page and color page and select on which clip to work on?

I know a workaround would be to hide the long clip but then I would'nt be able to see final result when doing color on the other clips...

Clip selection has no effect when switching pages. The playhead will remain in the same location for that timeline.

On the Color page, the top most clip under the playhead is selected by default. You can select any other clip to work on when the Clips panel is activated. (Upper right of the GUI, between Timeline and Nodes.)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Hi!

Maybe I wasnt clear when I wrote my original post.

I know this info and that the playhead will be at the same place. But am looking for a way for the selected clip in the color page to be at least one of the 3 around the playhead when I switch from pages. It's really annoying because I have to go back and forth a loth for packaging reasons and the time I loose to find the right clip is cumbersome...

For example, the clips I want to work on in the color pages are on V1. I have graphics on V3 that have nothing to do in color page but still has an effect on final image so I need to have them on. So how to "disregard" that long clip on V3 to only work on what's on V1...

Go to the color page and enable the timeline panel.
Alt + click on each track name you want to be ignored from automatic selection when you switching to the color page. The track names will turn red and all the clips will dissapear from the clips panel but will remain visible in the final result

You can also put only the clips you want to grade into a group, then show only that group.

Thanks for the suggestion. Problem is I already use groups for other things such as looks for bunch of shots... And I may be wrong but I assume a clip can't be in 2 different groups?

Yes, clips cannot be in two groups. Disabling tracks could be the best solution.
