Can't work with Resolve 16 nor with Resolve 17

PostThu Jan 28, 2021 1:13 pm

So I got two major problems:
1. I can't work with any mp4 or other video file. As soon as I drag the file into my project or import it otherwise it instantly says:
Media offline
Relinking the media doesn't help.

2. I managed to make a video with an mp3 file and some texts and animations done in Resolve but as it turns out I can't render. I've choosen normal render settings (I watched a video for that) and as I try to render the video it says:
Can't add audio track to Video
I also tried it without audio. But then, as soon as I try to render, it says:
Unable to encode video frame
I also made an entirely new project with just an basic title in it and I also can't render that as it has the same issue I stated first. I already tried some possible issues as I got help on the Resolve subreddit but my problems remain.
I tried to solve my render issues in DaVinci Resolve 16 and 17 Beta.

Any help is appreciated

*Edit:
OS: Windows 10 pro n
I'm using the free version

As a new user, your first course of action should be to complete some Resolve training. The Beginner's Guide and Advanced Editing are an excellent groundwork to get you moving smoothly. ;)

My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

My specs are:
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
GPU: gtx 1050ti

The PC is brand new except the graphics card, which I took from my old system.
I am using the latest studio driver for my 1050ti

What exact version of Resolve, and what exact GPU driver are you using? Words like latest and newest don't help. What is the source of your MP4 files?

Are you trying to work with 4k mp4 files?

I am currently working with Resolve 17.0b6. At least that's the installer name. I don't know where I get the exact version name.
I already provided my specs and OS but I can write them again.
OS: Windows 10 pro n

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
GPU: gtx 1050ti
GPU Driver: GeForce Game Ready Driver Version: 456.71 from 10/07/2020

I also have over 700gb left of space on my hard drive.

No, I have that much space left on the drive I'm using for my resolve projects. It's an Seagate Firecuda SSHD with 1tb. I also have an M.2 where my OS is stored on and where the root files of resolve are located

One question you haven't answered is; What is the source of your video clips? This can have a direct bearing on the cause of your problem.
Resolve Studio 19.1.3 build 7

The source might be camera, a smartphone or screen recordings. The latter two could be an issue.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Windows N has media deficiencies by design. Resolve's minimum recommendation is Windows 10 Pro or Home with the Creators update.

I would advice looking up options to bring the media support from Windows up to parity with Windows Pro, installing the Microsoft HEVC codec and upgrading graphics drivers from the Nvidia site, choosing the Studio drivers and using Custom > Clean install to update.

Please also look up Windows automatic driver updates and consider turning them off to retain control of driver versions.

If these don't work, providing more detail on what codec the mp4 file uses, what the source of the file is (e.g specific camera format, screen recorder with these settings) and adding a link to a sample clip would help the forum give you better feedback.
