17 Beta, proxies visually smaller?

PostFri Jan 29, 2021 5:25 am

I am starting to work with Resolve 17 and love the new Proxy feature. Makes some of my older systems usable again. However, when I create the proxy media, the proxy is visually smaller then the original. If I switch back and forth between the original and proxy media (by turning on and off the 'use proxy media' option), the original media fills the frame while the proxy media is smaller with a black frame around it. Why is it doing this? Is this normal?

I am using the DNx formats, as that's all I have access to with the windows system I am using to generate the proxies, which it is doing with my Proxy Media Res set to original.

Thanks.

I have a similar issue, when my clips pixel aspect ratio is set to 1.8 for anamorphic lenses, optimized media is shown correctly, but proxy media not. When using proxies it is not desqueezed even though the PAR is set.

Make sure Timeline Proxy Mode is set to Off. This is a poorly named feature entirely unrelated to actual proxies.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Agree! "Viewer Resolution Mode" would be better
