Unable to find executable application

I have downloaded and installed Davinci Resolve 17 Beta for Windows 10. I can see related files, such as Blackmagic RAW Player, Blackmagic RAW Speed Test, and Davinci Control Panels, but I see no program file that I can actually run to access Davinci Resolve.

Did I miss something? Is there additional software I need to download? Am I required to purchase hardware? My impression was that I could use this with just the computer keyboard, etc.

Can anyone help with this?

Thank you!

Best regards,
Walter

I don't recall the Player and Speed Test included with Resolve, so I'm thinking you didn't actually install Resolve.

Hi Jim,

Thank you for your reply. I went to blacmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve and clicked on the button to download Davinci Resolve 17 Beta. It seemed to download.

When I clicked to extract the files, I got a message:
"Compressed (zipped) Folders error. Windows can not compete the extraction. The destination file can not be created."

After a minute or so, it seemed to be extracting the files. Then I clicked on install. It indicated that installation was complete, but as I said earlier, there doesn't appear to be any program to run.

So maybe the error message is the key, but I don't know what to do about that.

Any ideas??

Thank you
Best,
Walter

You need to unzip .zip files before using them.

What is the name of the .exe file that results from the unzip?

Thank you Jim,
I click on the downloaded file to extract all files. Now it says there is a newer version already installed, and I have to uninstall it before installing again. When I click on the shortcut icon, it says Windows can not find resolve.exe. So there is not exe file to run the app.

Thanks
Best,
Walter

Sorry, I meant when you unzip the downloaded file, what is the name of the .exe you end up with, the one you use to install the software?

This is the exe file that I see:

DaVinci_Resolve_17.0b7_Windows.exe

When I click on it, it says it is extracting.

IT appears to finish. I don't see a new exe file being created. I click on it again, and it says there is already a newer version installed. It seems like I am in an endless loop.

I think it may have something to do with the fact that this is a school computer, being managed by the school district. I had to ask our IT people to provide an admin user name and password to be allowed to download/install it. I have even restarted and logged in to the computer as the admin, but still not getting anywhere.

I appreciate your efforts to help.

Thank you!
Best,
Walter

There is a new 17.0 b8 version available. Download the appropriate zip file: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/suppor ... and-fusion

While you're there, click the Read More and scroll down to find the minimum requirements for Windows. Please ensure that your hardware is not too old, and your drivers are up to date.

Before you install, make sure you have at least 6-10 GB free on the C: drive. Right click the zip, extract to the same folder. This should give you a new file with the same name as the zip, but with the exe extension. You may delete the zip file if you need to now. Now, double click the exe and install.
