Slow Rendering

PostFri Jan 29, 2021 4:45 pm

I am new to the Forum and apologize if this is posted in the wrong area. I did not notice a similar post in a search.

I have used the free version of Resolve for about a year successfully. As a cleanup, I moved some files to an external drive but I apparently moved something that upset Resolve. It would not open. I Uninstalled and reloaded 16.2.8.

The editing went as usual until Render. A 30-minute project previously Rendered in about 12 to 15 minutes. It now takes almost three hours.

I'm running a 2019 Lenovo Legion i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60Ghz. with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX2060 16GB RAM . This is essentially all this laptop does.

During render, its only using 15% to 20% of the CPU and about 4% of the GPU.

During Uninstall of the 16.1.?, I believe I located all files or folders that said Davinci or Resolve.

Make sure in Preferences you have GPU and Memory set to use CUDA, not OpenCL.

I checked and the preference setting for GPU is "Auto". I changed it to CUDA and restarted Resolve. It would not open and said it could not find a CUDA capable GPU.

I notice that Resolve identifies my my GeForce RTX 2060 as an Open CL version. I changed to Open CL and selected it manually. It performs exactly the same. 2:33:33 for a 30 minute video.

any other ideas? Im dead in the water. I hate to change to another software. Black Magic cant help because this is the free version.

Update your NVidia driver to version 460.89 if you use the Studio driver, and version 460.79 if you use the Gaming driver, then go back into Preferences, set manual selection of GPU, select your GPU and set it to CUDA. BMD does not recommend the 461.xx driver. Many problems with it.
