Hi,

I’m having a problem with exporting/rendering a video per the transform/crop settings I have in place. The project is extremely basic, but I am a beginner, so it’s a struggle regardless.

For more detail, the project is simply a video from my cellphone (a video of a YouTube video, The Little Mermaid – bear with me), so there is only one video and audio track apiece. Since it is from my cellphone, the original video is much taller than it is wide (1920 x 1080, however).

Most of the visual data I do not want – hence my desire to crop. Therefore, in the edit window, I adjusted things as I would like to see them in the final rendered video (eliminating unwanted data, enlarging crop to fit screen). When I actually render, however, my result is a zoomed in crop that loses much more visual data than intended. In addition, black bars are added to the right and left.

I am attaching two screencaps so you can see what I mean.

That said, some additional disclaimers:

[*]I am running Windows 10 on a heavy duty Alienware gaming laptop -- so, no problems running Davinci Resolve 16, the free version.

[*]I have read a number of threads and watched various videos in my effort to problem solve this issue. This has led me to experiment with Master Settings and Image Scaling, as well as with the Delivery window, and I have tried many combinations of various settings in each of these screens. No combination I have tried is working. I have also reviewed the relevant sections of the manual, re: resolution. If the answer is there -- and I assume in some form it is -- I am nevertheless unable to interpret it and apply it.

[*]As a final note, video editing has NEVER been my forte. I am trying to overcome this now. I realize Davinci Resolve is not the easiest program to learn on, but I wanted to tackle it anyway. It would obviously be so much more rewarding long term if I could learn how to edit video on this program, rather than another.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!
