Tangent Ripple and Contour Shuttle Issues

Hello all!

I'm using Davinci Resolve Studio 16, and I'm having issues with both my Tangent Ripple and Shuttle Pro v2. Basically the issue is that every time I restart resolve, I get no response from either device, until I do a fresh install of both drivers. It's quite tedious to have to reinstall the drivers for these devices each time I close resolve, because they work fine in other programs without having to be reinstalled, it's just a resolve issue. Any suggestions? Thanks

This probably doesn't help you, but I'm using the Shuttle with DR 17b7 and it still works after restarting DR, I didn't have the Shuttle when I ran DR16 so can't say if it was OK.

I find it odd that it's only DR and not other SW - the Shuttle only emulates the keyboard as far as I understand, DR shouldn't really be aware of the Shuttle as being different to a keyboard. Maybe BMD could comment?

Have you tried with just one device at a time? I did have an issue with the Shuttle early January where the control panel only showed the 'About' tab and nothing else - no settings or key compoaser tabs. I had to reinstall the driver and everything has been OK since - it is a pain, I agree. I reported it to Contour but couldn't reproduce it - I'm waiting for it to happen again.

+1. Nothing to do with Davinci; nothing to set in Davinci. You need to make a profile in the contour shuttle's software and point it at the DR .exe file.

After some testing, I've narrowed the issue down a bit more. When I restart resolve, it works fine. The issues start once I restart my computer.

I have tried to use one device at a time with no luck, as well as I tried to relink the contour shuttle app to the exe file of davinci resolve, no luck. I also have the newest drivers for each device installed.

For the Shuttle: after a PC restart do you see the Shuttle Control Panel icon in the lower right taskbar notification area?
If not then the control panel isn't loading at startup. You should find a "Shuttle Device Helper Application" entry in "Task Manager/Startup" and it should be enabled. The ripple may have a similar setup.

Unfortunately they are showing up, and work in other applications right from boot up... I believe that it is a Resolve issue

I had this trouble and what worked for me is to run the shuttle software in Administrator mode. I set it in the file properties. Navigate to the Contour Shuttle folder in Program Files (x86). Right click on ShuttleHelper.exe and go to the Compatibility tab. Tick the box "Run this program as an administrator". If it's greyed out, click "Change settings for all users" and tick the box from there. Click OK twice and you're done.
