UltraStudio monitor 3G question

Hey guys, I finally got around to buying one of those mini monitors. In at least a dozen conversations about color grading, specifically with Mac, it was advised to use some sort of video card or whatever to get a clean signal to my monitor. So anyway, I just got one of the UltraStudio monitor 3GS. Apparently this device serves the purpose well and it’s obviously affordable.

HOWEVER, after installing the software I got a message saying “Existing software on your system loaded a System extension signed by ‘Blackmagic design Inc.’ which will be incompatible with a future version of Mac OS. Contact the developer for support.”

So this means that once I update my computer, this is essentially rendered useless? What exactly does this mean and why? I mean it was “only” 115 bucks, but still...

Thanks

It would be useful if you tell us what computer, OS and Desktop Video software you are trying to use with your UltraStudio Mini Monitor 3G?

That device is very recent addition to the Thunderbolt 3 line of BMD products, and it is not going to get obsolete any time soon.

There were several discussions regarding Desktop Video and Big Sur and the most recent version 12.0 should be compatible.
Please check the beta forum, as far as I can see, the Thunderbolt 3 devices are compatible. It's only the installation that is a bit complicated with Apple's 'high-security' approach.

My Mini Monitor 3G works just fine under OS 11.1 and Desktop Video 11.7, on a 2018 Intel MacMini.
