Render Cache and Thumbnails - Media Offline

Seemingly randomly, I get Media Offline errors for things that certainly aren't offline. Often, it's one of two things.
- Thumbnails, both in the Media Pool and in the timeline have the "Media Offline" error but the clip itself plays fine.
- Render cached clips have "Media Offline" error but when deleting the cache, it comes back online again.
I can't really see any pattern here but I've found that restarting Resolve usually fixes the problem.
Anyone else seeing things like this? I wish I could find a way to reproduce it more deterministically.

I’ve seen this with beta 7 quite a few times recently (after a month or so away from doing any editing)
It seems to happen randomly as you say.
Scrub over the clip and it shows fine
Quit and restart DR(Studio) and they’re there again
Go for a coffee / walk .. come back and a different handful of clips are showing as offline .. again they are still actually there.
This seems to happen irrespective of whether proxies are turned on for playback/etc
I’ve been revisiting a bunch of GoPro footage shot in 2019 (HEVC) looking for inspiration ... so the clips are h265/4k 60 fps on the whole
Most of my footage is on a CIFS share accessed over 10Gig .. I wasn’t sure if it was a local network issue or a bug in DaVinci ... I’ve not been able to identify any network issues tho (and all caches / renders are stored on a local SSD)

Been experiencing the same issue with beta 7. Are you using the studio or free version?
I switched to Studio simultaneously with switching from beta 6 to beta 7, so can't tell whether it's only in one of them. Didn't have the issue in Free beta 6 in any case.
Also not sure how to reproduce it.
Turning off smart caching seems to help (or at least makes it occur less frequently). Not entirely sure yet, but it seems that turning off GPU accelerated decoding solves the problem altogether. Might be an issue with the decoding not working properly. I've observed "GPU engine" in Task manager being stuck on a copy operation for some time while it happens, but not sure if it's related.
Already experimented with several NVidia driver versions, from the latest back to releases from 3-6 months ago (no studio versions for my card unfortunately), but didn't really change anything.

Now that I think about it, it might actually have started when I switched to Studio. Very often, there’s this segment in the middle of a clip or perhaps right at a transition where it suddenly does this Media Offline thing. Maybe I should try disabling GPU decoding. But still, that would defeat part of why I bought Studio in the first place.

Yeah. Same reason for switching to Studio here. Hopefully something they can fix in the next beta release.
