when I am finished with my node creations and I want to smooth out my timeline all the node boxes are missing in my spline creator....how do I make them show up?

My first thought is, you need a higher resolution monitor.

Because you have nothing animated in the merge node you have currently selected? Add some keys in the inspector. Also check the "three dots- Show all/none"
