Render cache not triggering

PostSun Jan 31, 2021 3:27 pm

On this project I have, I was running with Proxy Timeline Mode and user caching where all clips had Cache Fusion Output turned on. I then switched Proxy Timeline Mode to Half Resolution and suddenly the red line indicating cache progress just disappeared. Restaring Resolve didn't help.

However, one thing that DID trigger caching again was to switch to Smart caching and then back to User cache... THEN the red line came back and it started caching.

Anyone had things like this happen where it doesn't seem to understand that it should be caching things?

In my eyes, anything related to cache is currently not usable!

If a timeline (with ofx effects) plays faster without caching than rendered / with cache, then something is wrong.
I tried all kinds of caching, it just doesn't really work reliably!

Whereas I think it is also due to the memory management!

The memory usage increases up to the maximum of the available space (32Gb for me), the playing of the timeline gets slower and slower until it just stutters and stops at all.
It seems that no memory that is no longer needed is released?

I hope this bugs will be fixed as soon as possible, otherwise Resolve is - at least for me - just more to forget...

Not yet.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
