New Computer - Clean Install of Resolve

PostMon Feb 01, 2021 5:15 am

I have Davinci Resolve 16 Studio that came with the Pocket 6k on an SD card. I am getting a new computer and wondering if anyone has any experience with a clean install of Studio?

Do I have to Install the version that came on the SD card and then upgrade to Beta 17 or can I just grab a copy of the latest copy online and put in my serial and activate that copy?

Thanks in advance!

You can just download the latest. Newer version are always complete installs, from scratch. If you're new to Resolve, I suggest R16 to avoid troubles that R17 beta may bring.

Generally, physical copies are rarely the most up to date versions and it's best to go to the web site and download. Whether it's software, a driver, etc.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Thank you guys! I didn't know if the original software was tied to the serial number given with the SD card or not so I just wanted to confirm to streamline my install process. I will download the latest version from the Blackmagic website then.... easy!

I am currently using Beta 17 and haven't experienced any issues yet... except my current hardware trying to keep up.

Thanks again!
