Fairlight doesnt recognize Audio card

PostMon Feb 01, 2021 5:47 pm

I am running windows 10 with the DR studio beta 17.08 build 23 and fairlight does not see my MOTU Mk3 inputs. It only recognizes my outputs when using it for editing etc. The only thing it recognizes is my webcam microphone. I normally use cubase 11 for my audio and it sees the card fine. for the audio inputs the only option I get is "Fairlight audio interface with MADI or just MADI"

I would much rather not have to switch back and forth to cubase and DR and just do everything in house with davinci.

Ideas?

Thanks

Unfortunately Davinci Resolve does not recognise ASIO Drivers. I use an RME Multiface or an X32 mixer and have to set windows to use whichever device is connected, then allow DR to use the system driver. I really wish they would add ASIO support. Seems mad.

Check your input device settings under windows audio settings.

Perhaps you could route the audio into DR through a virtual audio device, such as Voicemeeter Banana or Voicemeeter Potato (I know they work with ASIO).

Any device will work just fine through windows system without using asio drivers. The issue is latency. Unfortunately all software workarounds add to this latency. As long as your audio device has hardware monitoring for any live recording, using windows to manage audio i/o will not stop you doing anything. With asio as by far the most universal standard for windows pro audio, it is perplexing why Blackmagic have avoided it for so long.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. Even WDM is unpredictable in Resolve.

I guess I have been lucky. Both of my interfaces work if configured as the system audio device, albeit with some serious round trip latency.

Again though, we really need asio support!

EDIT. I checked with a third interface, and it works as well. I left a message on your thread Matt.
