Database and OFX plugin disapperared....

PostMon Feb 01, 2021 6:49 pm

Hi there,

today I started Davinci after a few weeks again and I wondered that there was no database anymore. So I restored an backup. Then I was grading a little bit around, the software crashed. No Problem... I was just out of disk memory. I started again an I got this error message that there´s no neat video plugin. I looked in the FX Tab and there was no OFX Plugin anymore.

What happend?

Thx,
Tobias

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

...but I reinstalled the plugins yesterday after I moved up to the latest Davinci version. It seems to work again. But I wonder how could this happen.

I see in the most current log that there was a database issue with the project that was loaded. The error suggested that the drive may have been full.

It looks like you only have one drive on the system. So the cache and still data is being saved to that drive. You'll need to watch that growing cache files aren't filling up the drive.

After the critical database error, all the OFX stuff went offline, including all the Resolve OFX. Not sure why that happened, but if the drive was full, bad stuff could happen.

Since things are working after updating to 17b7, I'd suggest to just keep an eye on your drive usage, and be aware that cache files (if you are using caching on a project) can get large pretty quickly.

I can't explain that with the info at hand. But it does reinforce the suggestion to make periodic database backups, and to make daily project export drps of any in progress projects that span multiple days/weeks/months/years, in case something happens to the database.
