[W10] Resolve stuck loading fairlight page

PostMon Feb 01, 2021 7:34 pm

Hello,

I just installed Resolve on W10 Pro and it is stuck LOADING FAIRLIGHT PAGE on the splash screen. I intentionally left fairlight out during install. It is an audio feature, and I already have an audio editor. So how do I get past that?

Thanks...

Best,

Michael

As far as I know, you can't select which bits of Resolve you install. The pages are interlinked and work together. If you are referring to the Fairlight Audio Accelerator, that is a different matter. You only need that if you have the card installed in your computer.
You can still do all your audio work in a separate DAW if you wish to. I do all mine in Pro Tools for instance. Having Fairlight available will not make any difference, and can be beneficial.
As to being stuck on the loading page, there are other posts on this forum with this problem with the solution posted by a BMD staff member.

For one user the solution was as simple as updating his GPU driver. So this may be something to look at.
Resolve Studio 19.1.3 build 7
Dell XPS 8700 i7-4790, 24GB RAM, 2 x Evo SSDs, GTX1060/6GB (572.16 Studio Driver), Win10 Home, Speed Editor, Faderport 1, Calibrated Eizo ColorEdge CS230 + BenQ & Samsung monitors for UI, Canon C100mk2, Zoom H2n.

Not true. You can select not to install the fairlight bits. But this is not the primary issue.

The primary issue is the fact that Resolve gets stuck on the splash screen and never gets off it. I happened to watch it in task manager, and it was allocating well over 2+ GB memory, and was slowly peeling off perhaps 20K of that at a time.

What is it doing? Enumerating my disk drives, which are several, including some USB storage devices. Why is that any of Resolve's business?

Will also mention has nothing to do with my GPU. One of your competitors, Blendor, for instance, had no trouble whatsoever sequencing audio and video bits and rendering those to the resulting MP4. Just FYI. But y'all cannot seem to get off the splash screen.

That only applies to the console hardware. The Fairlight page in Resolve is not an option.

Try removing all USB devices except mouse and keyboard before starting.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Maybe we are not talking about the same things. So I need not select any Fairlight options? See https://pasteboard.co/JMFjXlNp.png.

Again, re: removing USB devices... Not gonna happen. Resolve is unusable in its current form. Enumerating whatever it is enumerating about my system is none of its goddamn business, to be perfectly blunt about it. 2 GB+ allocation during a splash screen... Ludicrous. Unperformant. Terrible.

Bottom line, fix it, BM.

Both of those Fairlight options add functionality if you have the extra BMD hardware installed, They themselves are not Fairlight.
Just because your GPU works with Blender it is not an indication it will work with Resolve, especially if you are using an old driver.
The suggestion to remove all usb items except the keyboard and mouse is merely for testing purposes. Some usb and Bluetooth devices can interfere with the launching of Resolve.
As with many other users, Resolve is perfectly well behaved and runs properly on my system.
