No ProRes Export in R17 Studio but yes to Fu17 Studio?

PostMon Feb 01, 2021 7:42 pm

Hi all,

Long time Mac user now on a Windows machine...

There seems to be no ProRes export options in Resolve 17 Studio but when I look at the saver options in Fusion 17 Studio, the ProRes codecs ARE available. Why are they missing in one Blackmagic software but not the other?

We don't know.

Cineform is just as good. (I'd argue even better, actually.)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Resolve on Windows does not have ProRes render capability.

As noted in the Resolve 16 Supported Codecs list:

Get Kyno, it does ProRes under Windows (Apple-blessed). Or use one of the tools based on ffmpeg (unofficial).
Or wait a while, third-party solutions for 17 are in the works.

For BM, it's probably a licensing issue.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.
