Export Subs as XML in Resolve

PostTue Feb 02, 2021 5:12 pm

Hello everyone, I know this question has been asked but in the earlier Resolve versions and I can't seem to find an answer.

I exported a DCP within Resolve and the film festival is asking me the subtitles separately as an XML format.

Is there a way to do it in Resolve (otherwise, how would you do it ?)

I tried to duplicate my timeline, then erase all medias except the subs track and then export an XML. But when I read the .XML, there's no subs at all included (or when I re import it into Resolve or FCPX.)

Any Idea ?

Thanks to all

Hello,

XML is a pretty broad term and not a specification. For DCPs, the XML format would be DLP Cinema XML (which is also called SMPTE DCP XML for SMPTE DCPs) and not the Final Cut 7 XML that you can export in resolve. I use Annotation Edit to create a proper DCP XML, but it not free.

I think Michel Cinquin's website can convert an SRT to a proper DCP XML for free, but I never tried it:

After you did the XML, I wonder how you will be able to check them, though. Maybe DCPoMatic read them? It's best to verify them in a real DCP projector to be sure.
