Version 16.2.7.010 Lags (Optimized Media doesn't help) :(

Hey guys, :D

I recently installed Davinci Resolve Version 16.2.7.010. This is my first Version to start with Davinci hence I have no comparison how other versions could perform on my laptop.

I have problems with fluent playback in the timeline. I dont't have that much media in there. Just a 5 minute clip (not 4k), some sound effects, some cuts, color grading and some visual effects.
There are even some effects (f.e. film grain) that I can't preview in the timeline, I just can assume from a still how it will be looking.

My system is not that bad and also I can't afford to buy a better notebook for now. So I hope I can fix the lagging problem with another Davinci Version. I could not fix this problem by using optimized media and other adjustment settings (as you see on youtube "making even your 300$ Laptop work").

My Laptop:
Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz 1.99 GHz 16GB RAM Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620

I understand that the GPU is not the best, but I would be happy if someone could tell me how to make Davinci usable even on that hardware.

Thank you in advance :)

What's the codec of your source footage?
With that GPU, I'd limit the timeline resolution to 1280x720. Using the last version of DR 15 might help too.

Thank you very much for your input Uli,

in terms of resolution I already tried Playback > Proxy Mode > Quarter Resolution (this setting was only a little bit helpful).

My footage is a video directly from DSLR camera with .MOV codec. Is this a problematic?

In detail the codec of source footage is H.264

Film grain is very taxing on many GPUs, let alone an Intel IGP...I think you have somewhat unrealistic expectations. Stick to grading only for smooth playback, apply effects on delivery. Have you tried caching?
