Premiere Pro to DaVinci Resolve - JPG scaling issues

PostWed Feb 03, 2021 11:45 am

Hi guys,

I'm very new to Davinci and would appreciate some help.

I have a fully edited sequence in Premiere Pro which I'm trying to bring into Davinci to colour correct. I followed the steps below to do this:

1) Exported Premiere Pro sequence as Final Cut Pro XML
2) Opened Davinci Resolve and imported timeline (AAF, EDL, XML)

I didn't change any of the LOAD XML settings (outlined in the screenshot) and I pressed ok. Once my timeline loaded, I noticed that all of the JPG images I used in Premiere were zoomed in (as shown in the comparison screenshot attached). I think Davinci isn't recognising the scaling and repositioning done within Premiere.

Is there a way to resolve this? And if I've already added transitions throughout my edit in Premiere Pro, can I leave them in or do I need to remove them?

Transitions are one thing that often don't survive the EDL/XML process.

I can see where scaling and positioning might also be on that list. "Effects" are often specific to the NLE.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
