Slow Motion Options
Posted: Thu Feb 04, 2021 12:04 amI understand from other posts, and the BMPCC 6K User Manual that I can record for slow motion playback by leaving the camera frame setting at my intended delivery frame rate, say 24 fps, also known as the "project frame rate," turning on the "off-speed" frame rate and setting it to something higher, say, 60 fps. When placed into a 24 fps Resolve timeline that footage will automatically play back in slow motion.
However, I'm not clear about what I get when I set the BMPCC 6K to 60fps without turning on the off-speed frame rate. When I place that footage into the Resolve 24 fps timeline it plays back at full speed, presumably discarding the unneeded frames. So my question is, if I slow the footage down to 40%, is Resolve putting back the presumably dropped frames to give me smoother slow-motion playback than had I recorded at 24 fps?
Does either method provide superior slow-motion visual results?
