resolve V17b8 - cropping not correctely working

Hi,
I just installed the new Beta 8 and run into a problem when cropping a clip on track 3 above two others...

I'm only cropping and static moving (via transform on a static place in the frame) this clip - so no other effect is used.

When editing I will get a "normal" display - when playing or exporting, resolve is blending the rest (cropped part) of that clip over the tracks under this one...

With Beta 7 this was OK!

Thanks
tom

I'm seeing the same here in Studio 17b8 for Windows.

Weird, man!

I'm also having similar problems with cropped shots (and also any shot that has been repositioned and/or rotated).

See screenshots below (subject obscured for confidentiality):

Posting a second message as there's a 3 image limit.

I assume this is related - I have images overlapping each other on a timeline. During playback there is an unwanted blending of the various layers which disappears when paused. Screenshot below is taken during playback - this 'glowing' effect shouldn't be there. The shots all have 100% opacity and 'normal' composite mode.

I got the same problem. Old project which was almost finished is a mess now.
Blending stops at pause. But in the export it's the same problem!! :o
Pretty annoying because I'm using a ton of split screens in this projects.
I went back to V17b7 and it's working again

I have the same issues with cropping/softness and I noticed that reverting to beta 7 didn't immediately solved the problem. After disabling/enabling the track with the issue, it worked fine again.
(for those who nearly had an heart attack when they hit this problem and reverting to beta 7 didn't seem to work :D )

As a stop-gap fix, you can also add an Alpha Output on the Color page for the clip and connect it as I have it the screenshot below, it should work the right way then, it does for me. I do hope they fix this in the next beta.

Just tested and yeah, that definitely bugs for me :/

Sometimes the timeline actually looks fine, but the render is screwed up.
Sometimes the timeline looks buggy too ... then I scrub and it's fine ... very weird and inconsistent.

I don't use Crop much. Wouldn't have seen the issue without the first post and a test.

I can confirm the problem. yesterday on 17b7 all works fine. i should work much with cropping. and its annoying.. temporally solution is making a compound clip of cropping clips. try it

p.s. switching a composite mode to Foreground is help too

p.s.s. composite mode= alpha is better

It's happening for me as well - upgraded a project from 16.2 to 17b8 and cropping, cropping softness and composite mode seems bugging for me on the render. Composite works in stills but not during preview/rendering playback.

I am essentially cropping portions out of videos and reposition them/overlaying them onto each other - sometimes 3-4 cropped overlays in parallel.

With 16.2 it just worked without blending issues but now in a small example it looks like this:

Clip is overlayed onto clip in the example picture above. Apparently the softness option in the cropping also is bugged as it starts to add light to the softened portion and on the edges it shows a border/sharp line.

I have similar problems. However it does appear if you retime or add an effect to a clip (de flicker in my case), the crop works correctly.

Creating a Compound Clip does solve the issue

For me crop softess doesn't "soften" edges at all. When using negative values it used to soften inner side and now it starts creating rounded jagged corners but not edge softness.

And it appears to work on the M1 build, not the PC build
