When closing Resolve or switching projects you will get this choice box. If you don't want to save any changes just click "Don't Save".
Resolve Studio 19.1.3 build 7
Dell XPS 8700 i7-4790, 24GB RAM, 2 x Evo SSDs, GTX1060/6GB (572.16 Studio Driver), Win10 Home, Speed Editor, Faderport 1, Calibrated Eizo ColorEdge CS230 + BenQ & Samsung monitors for UI, Canon C100mk2, Zoom H2n.

Thank you Charles but I have never seen this? Under file I get 'save project' or 'save project as' sorry for my ignorance, clearly I am not following the correct procedure?

Live Save has to be off for that option to be presented.

I don't recommend that.

Open Project Manager and right-click your open project, then hit Close.

Yes, I tried that but when I hit close it simply shows it is saving it and then closes?

Unless that's what Jim means when he says Live Save has to be off for that?

With Live Save on, everything you do is instantly saved. You'll never be asked to save, and never have the option to say no.

But...you'll also never lose more than the very last thing you did on those rare occasions that Resolve crashes. (And you may not even lose that last thing.)

So think carefully before turning Live Save off.

Thanks Jim, I do get that but there are the odd times when I have made several changes and then decided I prefer how it was. Would that Option that Charles has posted have solved that? If so where can I find that option?
Thanks for all your help everyone.

The better solution to that scenario is the History Window.
