Sony Fx6 Footage Not Playing Back

PostFri Feb 05, 2021 6:19 pm

Anyone else having issues with Fx6 footage dropping to 0fps? Everything else is playing back fine. Codec is XAVC Intra 4:2:2 L5.1

UPDATE: realized it was the slow card reader.

You need hardware acceleration. The MacBook Air M1 is playing it perfectly fine in full resolution.
Check if your GPU supports the decoding in hardware.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

MacOS 13.7.4, 2017 iMac, 32 GB, Radeon Pro 580 + eGPU

False alarm! Realized I was trying to play it off the slow card reader instead of transferring it to a drive.

Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, but I never even leave the original media connected when starting to work on videos!
My first step is always cloning the media to two separate drives and then setting it aside. Computers can crash at any time and, in rare cases, files and even file structures can get damaged.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

+1 uri...

i NEVER do anything but copy the media off the card and then REMOVE it. i usually simply keep the card as is (they're so cheap now), rather than wipe it - the client pays for it anyway, and i can always access the material on it in the future.

Depends on your camera. Not sure I'd consider high capacity C-Fast 2.0 "cheap".

So my habit is much like Uli's. Copy to a Backup drive, copy to the internal Media drive, put the card away until the next shoot.

Then start Resolve.
