Beta 8 broken

Wow... look at this (excuse the junk clip):

If you crop a clip that is on a track above another clip, a weird partly opaque screen of the above cropped clip shows through. Basically seems like Beta 8 is completely broken, or am I missing something here?

Uninstalled b8 and reinstalled b7... and yup... Beta 8 is broken.

Yeah, there's a lot of folks reporting this. Tom's the first person I've seen to report it working.

Cropping is fine here. If someone with the issue can post a whole sample project, with media, maybe we can narrow this down a bit.

See http://people.osmocom.org/~tnt/resolve/

This contains a project export archive and the render I get with it.

Note that while editing it looks fine most of the time (in this example at least, more complex examples can show issues when editing too), but the render is most definitely wrong.

Have you tried playing the cropped footage, that is when the issue occurs.

Not working here either, but I suspected it must be working for some given that there has not been more outrage.

I was even able to reproduce the problem with an empty project, a single mp4 ciip and a cropped jpg overlay, so there aren't many project variables contributing to it!

I experienced the same issue, and no fix I could find. I went back to beta7 and its fine.

I was able to confirm that it is ONLY AN ISSUE ON WINDOWS - I moved a project between my PC and Mac, and the same project looks fine on Mac.

There is a workaround adding an alpha channel desribed here:

It is because you are on a Mac. I tested the same project file on Mac and PC beta8. No ghosting on Mac, but it is a consistent bug on PC.

I see the problem now. I had Composite Mode set to Foreground, which eliminates the bug. On Normal, the bug is seen during playback.

Definitely an issue on Linux as well.
(Tested with AMD card, didn't check CUDA)

True, I just tried it on a Mac and it works as expected, Normal compositing Mode.

Yes, I did, it's a good idea to read them with regards to bug reporting. Specifically about giving your system specs, if you want the bug to be fixed.

Same issue for me on Mac, running Mojave.

There are now several threads on this same issue. I don’t think it’s a question of system specs and it’s definitely not just on PC. It’s a pretty serious bug for an advanced beta release. Staying on 7 until 9 is out.

I can see it now. Happens in DaVinci YRGB projects. Switching to RCM or ACES, it no longer occurs.

This happens for me on beta 8 on Windows as well. For *some* clips.
I have 5 cropped and resized clips, but only one of them on the timeline exhibits the behavior.
When scrolling through the timeline it looks good, but as soon as I play back the timeline, the part that's cropped out appears with a weird semi-transparent blending mode.

I can see this as well. I tried using both .jpg and .dng images as overlays. The uncropped, whitish area shows intermittently, but it also appears constantly as part of a rendered video.

I have the same issue with Resolve Studio beta 8.
Specs:

CPU AMD 5800X
Nvidia 2070 (not super)
Mem RAM 32GB, 3200MHz
Windows 10 version 2004.

Uninstalled beta 8, reinstalled beta7, works great now.

Yes, I noticed this same issue today with 3 PIP's stacked. I had to export and re-import the bottom two layers to make it work.
